That includes things that aren't "rides" (like the Enchanted Tiki Room), but it does list all the rides as well and even provides information on which rides are closed for maintenance on any given day.
There are 58 attractions at Disneyland, but not all of them are considered rides. Here is a list of the 32 rides in Disneyland.

I would say that California Adventure is aimed at older children. The rides are more extreme and exciting. However, it depends on the child. If you have adventurous children they may have a blast in California Adventures. My cousins are 7 and 9 and they preferred California Adventure to Disneyland. The park includes rollarcoasters, straight drop rides, a fun water raft ride, and more rides of a similar nature. The rides there are not like the rides in Disneyland. They are not themed like Disney rides. They are created more for the excitement. Here's a more detailed list of rides in California Adventure: http://gocalifornia.about.com/bl_dcaridesheet.htm

No water parks, but Disneyland Park has a flume rode called Splash Mountain, and California Adventure has Grizzly Rapids River Run.
In most peoples opinions, Disneyland is an amazing place with cool rides.
I was just there yesterday and had a pedometer with me because I was curious about this as well. I walked 9.81 miles between Disneyland and California Adventure. And I only went on the same 3 rides over and over (Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, and California Screamin). So I imagine it would be significantly more had I walked to the other rides as well.
There is no Ferris wheel in Disneyland (I'm assuming you're talking about the original in Anaheim, CA; if you mean one of the other parks, you need to be more specific). There is a Ferris wheel ... Mickey's Fun Wheel ... in the California Adventure park just south of Disneyland, which is also owned and operated by the Disney corporation. Both Disneyland and California Adventure do not charge for individual rides; the price of admission to the park (about $100) covers all the rides within.
