Infections can be mild or serious, and sometimes can have severe complications if untreated. There is no way to tell without an examination and possibly some tests. If you have a persistent vaginal odor (it does not go away after wash/douche), see a gynecologist as soon as possible.

∙ 14y agoWhat you eat and poor hygiene causes body odor. The culprits can be garlic and onion. Bathe under there at least twice a day and wipe every time after you use the toilet, baby wipes clean better than tissue and also has a fresh fragrance. Make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water to clean out your system.

Yes improper physical hygiene can cause these problems but also one could be suffering from a particular disease for instance: halitosis is the problem when one usually breaths out bad air regardless of the number of times they brush their teeth and sometimes vaginal fungal infections like severe yeast could cause that. If someone is clean and is usually suffering from these two its better to see a specialist for better advice.

If the odour is temporary it's most likely a hygiene issue such as needing to shower, not cleaning enough, cleaning using soaps (only use water to wash with - no soaps, washes, wipes, sprays, or douching), wearing tight synthetic clothing, sitting for long periods of time, or pH imbalance due to contact with something chemical or following intercourse without condoms.
If the odour is continual then it could be a vaginal infection such as Bacterial Vaginosis or yeast infection - although it could also be that you're mistaking normal healthy vaginal scent (musky but clean, and will change throughout your cycle) for a bad odour. If uncertain check with your doctor.
