In a word, yes. There are a couple of reasons why.

1. Cultural Impact- The Beatles impact on culture was far bigger than Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson influenced many of today's artists, both singing and dancing. Thus earning him the name "The King of pop". Whereas Michael Jackson impact was solely in the entertainment category, The beatles had an impact in entertainment, society, politics, fashion and style. If MJ is the king of pop then the beatles were kings of pop culture or even kings of modern day music.

2. Sales- A survey, that was took by teens and up has shown that even after 40 years the beatles are still the most popular artists. The reason for this? SALES! With an EMI estimated record of sales topping 1.6 billion, more than any artist in the world, no other act has more influence on the history of modern music. You can go to china and ask, they know the beatles. The same goes for Africa, India, South America Europe and pretty much the entire world.
