The foods you eat, how often you eat can play a major part in metabolism. Some people say that eating foods high in sugar and carbohydrates can slow the metabolism. I know this to be true in my case.

Proper thyroid function can also affect the metabolism. A low thyroid can slow down the metabolism. I know this is true for me as well.

Some prescription medications can slow down in speed up metabolism. I have had this problem too. Both speeding it up and lowering it!

And finally, the amount of exercise you get definitely affects metabolism.

I believe that there are different kinds metabolisms. I cannot eat sugar and I have to limit the amount of carbohydrates. I have to eat a lot of protein. Once I figured this out, keeping my weight down was easy. Before that, it seemed like nothing I did would help me lose weight.

Look at the Atkins diet. I haven't had a weight problem for about 4 years now by incorporating this way of eating into my life. I thought it was a crazy way to eat, but nothing before that seemed to work.

exercise can boot metabolic systerm, because its common that if body in exercise it requires energy which is the output of food through metabolic system.
