A latch bolt is a type of locking mechanism commonly used in doors, consisting of a metal bolt that extends into the door frame to secure it when closed. It is typically operated by a handle or knob, which retracts the bolt, allowing the door to open. When the door is closed, the bolt automatically extends into the frame, securing the door without needing a key. This mechanism provides convenience and basic security, making it a popular choice for residential and interior doors.

in some cases you have to use a bolt but a stud is sronger
stud has all its length threaded and it is used with two nuts, but the bolt has one end closed and the other end is threaded ,it is used with a single nut.
A bolt without a nut or a head is called a stud.

Stud bolts are the ones with no head, only the bolt itself you can fast'em with vise grips or with nuts. Machine bolts are the ones that you need a wrench to fast it(you put the wrench in the head).
thread 2 nuts on the stud. thighten them against each other. with a wrench on the top one tighten the stud and then loosen the nuts and remove them.

rocker arm stud is pulling out. how can i get it back in
Measure from the center of one stud to the center of another stud furthest away.
1. purchase a set of "easy-out" threaded bolts. These have the thread in reverse, so that as you tighten the easyout, it turns the bolt out. 2. drill a hole in the center of the stud, no larger the 1/2 the diameter of the stud. 3. insert the proper size of easy-out bolt 4. use a wrench to tighen easy-out and remove bolt. Note: It is always a good idea to spray the stud with wd40 or loosen-all to help release the stud from its housing.
