Researchers only use embryos that have been terminated. But using them in research this individual will have had a small part in future research against horrible disease instead of beeing burnt as toxic waste. Embryos are full of omnipotent stem cells. These cells have not yet been turned of and assigned a special function like most cells in an adult body. This is why they are so special. Evern though there are some viable stemcells in an adult, they are very few and are hence not very useful to extract.
