Well, Turkey is literally in both Europe and Asia but it depends on many things. Geographically, Turkey could be in both continents. In terms of politics it gets more complicated. It is debated whether Turkey is a European state or a traditional Asian Muslim state. Anyway it is subjective. For example if EU members decide that Turkey belongs in Europe then the whole system will consider Turkey as European country. Like future maps will include Turkey in Europe. If on the other hand, Turkey declares itself as Asian then the whole system will tend to consider Turkey as Asian.
Russia does belong to Europe, but it also does belong to the continent of Asia. However, Russia is considered more European than Asian. It has always been historically and politically tied to Europe much more than it has been to Asia.
