What is a triple bond

A covalent bond between 2 atoms where each atom contributes 3 electrons

Apex :3

What is the correct electron configuration of the element with atomic number 20

1s 2 2s 2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2

or

Ar 4s2 (Noble gas form)

In noble gas form, you go back to the noble gas (the last group on the periodic table) prior to the element you are writing the configuration for. The electron configuration is the same up until that point. Then you write down the difference.

In this example, the electron configuration for Argon (Ar) is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6. If you fill up the shells until 4s2, you get calcium. It's faster to abbreviate by saying "Ar 4s2"

What would cause the shape of a molecule to be tetrahedral

Four atoms bound to a central atom with no lone pairs

What are repelled in the VSEPR theory

Electron pairs

How does the energy of core electrons compare with the energy of valence electrons

The energy of the valence electrons is greater than the energy of the core electrons.

Which kind of covalent bond has unequal sharing of electrons

A polar covalent bond

What do dipole-dipole forces do

Hold Polar molecules together

What elements have the highest and lowest ionization energy

Helium has the highest first ionization energy and francium has the lowest first ionization energy.

Which of the following elements is the smallest

question: which of the following elements is the smallest?

answer: chlorine (CI)

What kind of bond would two nonmetals make
