☆☆☆☆☆The policy of Reaganomics was based on "supply side" economics (which is often criticized as the "trickle down" strategy) to build economic growth. President Ronald Reagan championed across-the-board tax reduction and cutbacks in spending for social programs such as job education and welfare. The intent of the tax cuts was to leave capital in the private sector where it could be re-invested, rather than being acquired and used by the federal government. The net increase in economic activity would eventually generate tax revenue to compensate for the cuts.
The reactions to this idea are almost always subjective. Many critics decry the reduction in taxes for the richest Americans, who showed significant gains in wealth and hence political power. Supporters of the concept say it is based on the principles of free enterprise, rather than inefficient government involvement through higher taxes, subsidies, and public spending. The support for Reaganomics was divided substantially along the lines of the two major political parties. And as with most governmental policies, it had mixed results for the US economy.

The religious right in the US objected to the evolution being taught in schools and sexual education being taught to children. To try and change things the religious right capitalized on the media by making headlines and putting out print ads.

There were many political actions that resulted from opposition to the Vietnam War. These included political protest rallies and desertion to other countries.
The attitude of young people to war has changed markedly during the 20th century. In the early 20th century, many young men were eager to join armies in wartime, as it promised high pay and the opportunity to travel. As the century progressed, the availability of travel and increased living standards neutralized these advantages, and improved media coverage made the horrors of war known. This translated into a dislike and hostility toward service in the armed forces.
There were many issues that were important to singers and song writers in the 1960's. Listing to the lyrics of many songs from that period you will hear that civil rights were important concerns, peace and stop war was another concern.
As baby boomers entered the Kennedy era there were three major concerns. The first concern was the war that was raging in Vietnam and the fear of young men being drafted to fight in the war. The second concern was that of civil rights and the civil rights movement. A third issue was the threat of Armageddon and the sounds of the sirens that were being tested when parents were at work.
