throughout most of the world excluding the Middle East. a mere 20% of the worlds men are circumcised.

The largest concentration of intact men are found where there are few men circumcised for religious and cultural reasons. These areas include all of Europe including Russia, the majority of Sub-Saharan Africa, most all of Latin America & the Caribbean, all of Asia excluding the Middle East, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Philippines, & South Korea, Malaysia, & Indonesia.

Circumcision usually occurs due to religious or cultural reasons. Jewish males and most Muslim males are circumcised. Cultural circumcision occurs in areas where circumcision was one a normal medical practice, for example in the United States. However circumcision rates have decreased recently in the United States, Canada, and Australia. In the United States the majority of infant males no longer circumcised (with a percentage of about 30% overall), while in Canada and Australia the infant circumcision rates vary geographically but are generally below 10%. It is also common in the Pacific Islands & parts of Africa as a tribal rite of passage.
