3. Try to avoid sodas, which are acidic (this is sometimes hard).

4. Avoid drink mixes and flavored syrup, which contain high sugar.

As far as the actual alcohol goes, some that are easier for many people to handle (particularly those with acid-reflux type problems) are different rums (which can come clear/unflavored, flavored, spiced, etc.), kahlua, or whiskey.
