First of I think you may be referring to the pool filter not the pump. "Filter" runs the water thru the filter thus filtering the water. Recirculate, I believe, bypasses the filter media and sends the water back to the pool unfiltered.

intex sand filter is not working on filter only working on recirculate position.....what should we do
Filter it, you need something to catch all the organisms your killing. The filter pump will still recirculate.
Recirculate allows water to circulate through the system but bypasses the filter. This allows one to keep the pool water flowing, and components like a salt water chlorinator running, even if the filter is broken.
Very rarely as a mater of fact only in an emergency most problems with pool water can be overcome with the right treatment. Take a sample of water into the local pool shop and get their opinion, this is usually a free service A: In Calif. - average about every 5 to 8 yrs. k
If you're talking about your pool filter, it should be set to filter or run. Use the bypass or recirculate setting if you wish to circulate the water without having the water pass through the filter. Use the backwash setting to clean the filter.
Check the psi on the filter tank? If its lower than usual there is something stuck in the lines or jammed in the pump impeller. If its higher than normal, it just needs to be cleaned. Also, if you put the multiport handle into the recirculate position, this will bypass the filter. If everything works better in recirculate then you have a filter problem
Need more specific info A multi valve pool filter is a common configuration of valve and filter for a swimming pool system. The piping into and out of the filter is attached to a multivale. A multivalve has has several positions. One type of multi valve has six positions: backwash, waste, filter, closed, rinse and recirculate. (These valve positions are used on a DE filter. A sand filter may be different.) Use the filter setting in the nromal operation of your pool. This setting receives water from the pump and directs it to the dirty side of the filter media and then receives weater from the clean side and directs it to the pool. Use the Backwash setting to flush the DE from the filter and to a drain. Use the waste setting to flush water directly from the pump to the drain. The closed position is, well, closed. Rinse? Recirculate?
Yes you can BUT all the debris will re-enter the pool as its not being filtered
A pool skimmer is generally built into the side of or around the top of a swimming pool in order to skim debris from the surface of the water. A pool filter is built into the plumbing in order to filter fine debris from the water itself.
The fundamental difference between indoor and outdoor pool filters lies in their design based on environmental factors. Outdoor filters are built to withstand weather changes and may include UV protection. Indoor filters, while not needing UV or weather resistance, might require features to manage humidity and indoor air quality. Regardless of location, both types need to effectively filter impurities to ensure clean, clear pool water.
There is generally little difference between pool pumps so long as its the same sise
THis indicates that the pump is struggling to push water through a dirty bed of sand when on filter. When on recirculate, the water bypasses the sand and flows through the valve back to the pool. Change your sand or run a cleaner through it.
