The French saved the colonies from British rule.
i dont kow sorry If you don't know the answer, don't post anything on it because you look dumb.. The Reason the English gained control over the points of interest is because the English had a much better location of their colonies, closer to the points of interest. They also had a very rapid growing population in their colonies and outnumbered most of the other colonies. On top of all of that they didn't take part in the 7 years war which weakened a lot of their enemies who wanted those points of interest. Hope this helps, I just had this question on my homework and that was what the teacher told us and made us write down.
The king and Queen of Spain sent Columbus to America. The Spanish Government controlled The Spanish Colonies until they overthrew Spanish rule. The colonies existed for the benefit of Spain. Very little benefit accrued to the conquered. The French mainly existed to provide furs for France. In Haiti, a plantation owner wanted to make his money and return to France as fast as possible. He had no desire to remain there and develop the land. The French in Canada preferred the English Rulers during the American Revolution and fought against an American Army sent to Canada. They refused an offer from a French Army to become a part of France again. The Dutch ruled New York for a brief period of time. Private enterprise or corporations and not the government sent the British colonies to America. Both the investors in England and the colonists had a financial interest in the success of the colony. They worked to make it a success. They also had English Law working for them. When an English Army conquered New York, the Dutch settlers preferred living under English Law to Dutch Law. They fought against a Dutch Army sent to reconquer them. The English Colonies also had either partial or full self government. The others did not. This helped keep foreign tyranny at bay. Of course trouble came in 1763 when King George III decided to change things. French and Spanish colonies pretty much only existed for the 'home lands'. The colonies provided furs and other raw product. On the other hand the English colonies had a tad bit more freedom. Although they still were 'guinea pigs' for the home land... ~Lexy Lynch

The French had mainly come to America in search of fur and fish. They had pretty good relations with the Native Americans, because they would constantly trade and fraternize with them. The English -on the other hand, did not have good relations with the Native Americans. The English came to the Americas just to establish the colonies, they wanted the competition. Since the English held the world's best and largest navy, acquiring new lands would be to their advantage.
Colonists came to North America from both England and France, and created English and French colonies where those languages were spoken; later those colonies became the US and Canada, but the languages remained. (Note that in the US, only New Orleans still has any significant remnant of the French language, in the form of the Cajun dialect, whereas Canada has a much larger amount of French speakers, particularly in the province of Quebec.) =============================================================================== French and English are Canada's Official Languages. They have equal status. It is part of the formal recognition that the French and the English are Canada's two founding peoples. Nevertheless, several hundred languages and dialects are spoken within Canada.
New France was better able to maintain consistently friendly relations with the indians.
