US President Theodore Roosevelt may have been the first president to explain bluntly why the Federalist ideas of Alexander Hamilton were now the narrative on how US democracy and the Federal governments role began to lean away from decentralization.Roosevelt stated that Hamiltonian means or methods had been necessary to achieve Jeffersonian ideals. Roosevelt believed that only strong national policy was the most efficient method to correct US injustices.
With that said, it became easier for more and more power to be focused on the executive branch of government. Perhaps Woodrow Wilson was the last president to bend to the wishes of a strong US Congress.

President Roosevelt and many others believed it necessary to block German and Japanese expansion in order to prevent a shift in the balance of power that would threaten countries opposed to Germany and Japan. It was possible that German and Japanese Expansion would allow the two nations to control a significant portion of Europe and Asia, which would make them formidable opponents. If the decision to intervene in the Axis conquest of Europe and East Asia had been delayed, it might not have been reversible.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt influenced others with what was later called big stick economics. Roosevelt believed that a leader must 'speak softly and carry a big stick. This meant that you must always approach things diplomatically, but do not hesitate to use violence when necessary.

Roosevelt, in his corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, stated we must "Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick." Basically, this means that we must negotiate diplomatically but be ready to use force (a stick) when necessary while negotiating with foreign powers.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president when it began. However, Harry S Truman made the decisions necessary to end it.

In the United States, you do not need to declare yourself a member of any political party in order to vote for president; but in primary elections, it is necessary in many states to choose one party and register as a member. You will then be given the ballot that has the candidates from your party-- in this case, the Democratic party ballot.
US President Franklin D. Roosevelt did not believe he had the authority to act quickly in case WW 2 caused a threat to the US. He felt constrained by Congress from doing what he deemed necessary to protect the US. When FDR sought to repeal the Arms Embargo Act, he informed the Senate that war might come upon the US. The Senate did not support this and claimed that there was no threat from Germany.
