East Germany was taken over by the communist country of the Soviet Union. The people of Germany soon learned how awful communism was once they were occupied by the Soviets.
They were told where they would live, where they would work and they could not leave the country. Basic travel within the country was restricted. Most were not paid enough to purchase a car. Many Germans who had relatives in the free West Germany could not see their relatives. Their mail was read and sometimes never delivered. Their was spying done on the people and files kept on them.
They could not get the products the West German people could get. They lived in a controlled environment in fear. Their entire country had a wall built around it so they could not escape and others could not get in.
Life was better in West Germany than life in east Germany
Berlin (and Germany itself) has not been politically divided into "east and west" for nearly 20 years. "East Germany" ceased to exist in 1990. Since then, all of Germany has been under one government.
east Germany couldn't get to the freedom of the west because of the Berlin wall
Cause they needed more space in the east
West Berlin was democratic, controlled by West Germany. East Berlin was Communist, controlled by the Soviets and East Germany. Just to be confusing..... East Germany was called the GDR, the German Democratic Republic. It was that in name, it was not that in actual fact !
people in the east Germany thought that life in west Germany is more comfortable than in the east Germany
Life was better in West Germany than life in east Germany

The same as the rest of free Europe.
Oh, dude, no way! Germany is definitely not a Communist government today. They're all about that democracy life now. Like, they've been chillin' in the European Union, doing their thing since the fall of the Berlin Wall. So, yeah, Germany is as capitalist as a Starbucks on every corner.
In Germany, the life expectancy of males is 78.3 years. For females it is 83 years. Germany ranks 23 in the world for high life expectancy.
No. Germany was reunited in 1990. Since then vast sums of money have been invested in former East Germany and this has done much to overcome differences in living standards between the former East and West Germany. Actually Germany will be divided forever, because East Germany is not Deutschland. It's Wendland, territory of polabian slavs and ancestors of russians. East Germany was betrayed in 1990 and forcefully annexed to fascistic West Germany. Level of life in East Germany (DDR) wasn't so bad comparing to BRD. People in DDR always had job, while in BRD unemployment prospered in large scale.

Germany's involvement in World War II began in 1939 when they invaded Poland, leading to the start of the war. Under the leadership of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, Germany went on to conquer much of Europe before being defeated in 1945 by the Allied forces. The war resulted in widespread devastation and loss of life, and Germany was divided into East and West after the war.
