I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'the introduction of a large number of Turks". It was only after WW 1 in the early 20th century that the country 'Turkey' came about. Before that, there was the Ottoman Empire founded by the Osmani tribe that encompassed not only Turkey and the people living there, but also a great part of today's Middle East and northern Africa.
It affected the Islamic world in that the greatest part of it was ruled by the Ottoman sultans (Saudi Arabia and the bordering coastal countries were dirt-poor and politically unimportant until the advent of WW 2). In addition, the Sultan held the title of Caliph, the religious successor of the Prophet Muhammad.
