The newspaper started by Alexander Hamilton in 1801 was the "New York Evening Post." Hamilton founded it to promote his political views and provide a platform for Federalist ideals. The publication later became known as the New York Post, which continues to operate today.
He's not on any US coin. He's on the $10 bill.
If Alexander Hamilton were alive today, he would likely be both impressed and concerned about the U.S. Hamilton championed a strong federal government and a robust economic system, so he might appreciate the nation's economic power and global influence. However, he could also be critical of political polarization and the challenges of governance, as well as the complexities of modern finance and the increasing national debt. Overall, Hamilton would likely advocate for a return to strong leadership and fiscal responsibility.
Recently, the Alexander Hamilton Awareness (AHA!) Society has been holding annual events during July, as well as on his birthday on January 11th. This year they had a video connection from Hamilton's birthplace on the small island of Nevis in the Caribbean to his adopted home in NYC. Cakes were cut simultaneously by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis as well as the 5th Great Grandson of Alexander Hamilton. Last July (2012), they held 15 events to "Celebrate Hamilton". To see the event itinerary and photos check out the related links. There are many more events planned for this July 11-14 and July 26-28 in NY, NYC, and NJ. Hamilton's home in northern Manhattan in a National Park Site called "Hamilton Grange". It has just been relocated, renovated and re-opened.
