1. Ship builders had to recondition for war the WWII Iowa class battleship USS New Jersey for gunline duty in Vietnam. As well as repair guns on worn cruisers and destroyers. And repair battle damaged aircraft carriers such as the Enterprise and Oriskany which suffered massive (and fatal fires).
2. Automobile manufacturers built and repaired new M48 Patton medium gun tanks; General motors built brand new, and the final US Army "light tank"...the M551 Sheridan which was immediately fielded in Vietnam in 1969...over 1,500 were built.
3. Litterly THOUSANDS of M113 APC/ACAV (Armored Personnel Carriers/Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicles) were...and still are being built/or re-manufactured (updated).
4. Millions of bullets and the brand new M16 Jungle Rifle (originally intended for fighting only in Vietnam) were being built.
5. The US Navy Swift Boat was built in the state of Louisiana; the new PBR (Patrol Boat River) was built in the state of Washington; the new all steel Alpha boat (ASPB-Assault Support Patrol Boat) was built in the state of Oregon.
6. Aircraft manufacturer's such as Boeing, Bell, Sikorsky; Chance Vought, McDonnell Douglas, North American, Lockheed, Convair, etc. had to repair/replace: F100 Super Sabre jets; F101 Voodoo jets; F102 Delta Daggers; F104 Starfighters; A1 Skyraiders; A4 Skyhawks; A6 Intruders; A7 Corsair IIs; F8 Crusaders; F4 Phantoms; B52 Bombers; B57 Canberra bombers; U2 Spyplanes; SR71 Blackbird spyplanes; AC130 Spectre Gunships; Helicopters: AH1 Cobra's; UH1 Hueys (Iroquois); CH23 Sea Horses; CH21 Shawnees; CH47 Chinooks; OH58 Kiawas; OH6 Cayuse; CH46 Sea Knights; O-1 Bird Dog artillery observation airplanes; O-2 Skymaster observation planes; OV10 Broncos, etc.
7. Food companies (C Rations) and clothing companies (uniforms), as well as medical companies had to supply their products as well.
