in his youth
painter
Hitler's mother loved her children dearly, and spent most of her time with them-she was not a mean woman. Hitler's father was not cruel, but like most other fathers of that time. He wanted his son to follow in his career footsteps, while Hitler wanted to be an artist. Yes, he was actually quite a talented painter and skilled at sketching and drawing. Hitler loved his mother, and resented but respected his father. Both died while Hitler was an adolescent, and he ended up running away from home. I don't think Hitler's cruelty was genetic.
He wanted to be an artist. No joke, he reportedly fought bitterly with his father over it. After graduating from school, he applied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He was not accepted into the school, and instead partly made a living as a street artist.
