President Nixon was the last of the "old guard" US presidents; Ford was a nice man (and a WWII veteran, serving aboard the escort carrier USS Monterey in the Pacific). Carter was abit too mellow, and Reagan was a man trying to "bring it all back" (bring back to life the old guard). Bush Sr. (Reagan's ex vice-president) tried to stabilize what was left of the old guard...but after him it all went down hill from there (to where the US is at now).

Nixon was NOT politically correct, he called a spade a spade, a man a man, and a woman a woman...he didn't play nice guy. His worst enemy in the US were the anti-war people (he darn near hated them; and they hated him). Nixon did what no other US Commander in Chief ever did...he bombed North Vietnam ruthlessly with the B52...he invaded Cambodia...he invaded Laos. For these actions, Kent University erupted in violence with the Ohio Army National Guard shooting 4 students on 03 May 1970, and more hatred from the anti-war activists (and draft dodgers). Nixon ordered his staff to un-cover (investigate) "dirt" on the anti-war activists who had an office (room) in the Watergate Hotel.

His men (his staff) were caught. They went to Federal Prison; Nixon resigned from office; Ford (his vice president) pardoned Nixon for any crimes committed. The Vietnam War was lost under Ford's watch on 30 April 1975.

The Vietnam War had cost the US over 58,000 dead men and at least two US presidents; LBJ & Nixon. Kennedy's assassination may or may not have been connected to Vietnam...his assassination will ALWAYS be controversial.
