The date of the Vietnam war?

There are two dates for the American involved Vietnam War:

1955-1964 is the guerrilla war South Vietnam.

1965-1975 is the conventional war in both NORTH & SOUTH Vietnam.

Note: North Vietnam was not bombed prior to 1965. NVA and USA regulars did not officially tangle prior to 1965.

The beginning will nearly always be open to interpretation; the ending of the war should almost always be easier to state, 30 April 1975.

President Eisenhower dispatched US Military troops to South Vietnam in 1955. He had US military personnel on the ground there in 1954, helping to transition the French out.
