India was the birthplace of several sciences. Several mathematical concepts including zero, decimal system, square root, and algebra, started in India. Also, they were the first people to realize that the world was round, and not flat. They dicovered and made cures for over 1,000 diseases, and even did surgery!

I would say that the single most influential achievement was made by Johannes Gutenberg when he invented the printing press in 1450. That enabled scientific discoveries to reach more people and promote more scientific achievements.
