For starters in the U.S. there were many events taking place. The most important in my opinion was the Civil Rights Movement and the acts that were passed because of it. It ended segregation and gave people the right to vote regardless of race or ethnicity. The most important issue that affected many people both here and abroad was the Vietnam War o which there were many casualties on the U.S.'s part. The war started out of fear and raising concerns of Communism spreading. On another note the Berlin Wall was built in 1961 which separated East Germany from Western Germany. This wall came to be known as the "Iron Curtain" symmbolizing the opposing views of the Communist and Republican schools of thought at that time.
