Like Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams was older than most people associated with the American Revolution. He was about 53 when the war started. However, he survived past the age of 80. He served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1793 to 1797, taking office at the age of 71. He received votes from 17 of the 73 U.S. Presidential Electors in 1796. To this day, he is the oldest person ever to receive Presidential Electoral votes, beating Ronald Reagan by about six months.
