Blacks were not happy either before or after the civil war. They soon realized that the war was not fought over slavery. How do we know this? When Abraham Lincoln read his Emancipation Proclamation he freed the slaves in the south but did nothing for the slaves in the north. Slaves in the north? You didnt know there were slaves in the northern states of Indiana, Ohio, Pensylvania, and others? Those slaves were not set free till 5-7 years after the civil war. So how could the war be fought over slavery?? It was fought over control of the south. The international bankers who bankrolled the North in many ways including the cost of the war didnt want a divided America. Too hard for them to control two different countries. Abraham Lincoln said it best when he met with the then black leaders in a hotel in NYC before his death. He said "It's not fair for your people to live amongst us nor is it fair for our people to live amongst you. The only acceptable remedy is for your people to be transported back to the continent of your fathers, Africa." Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and many others had for years tried to organize an effort to do this very thing. It required buying a large quantity of land building an infrastructure, creating an economy and transporting ALL blacks to Africa. It also included a guarantee that these blacks and the next generation would be protected both physically and financially. A huge endevour but the will was there to get this done. The International Bankers (AKA Rothshields) didnt want this as the blacks were a good method of maintaining control over Americans. Lincoln was killed a short time after this meeting bruh bruh
The settlement on the plains offered opportunities for women and African Americans by allowing them to take on roles that were often limited in other regions. Women could acquire land through the Homestead Act and establish farms, gaining financial independence and participating more actively in community affairs. For African Americans, the westward expansion presented a chance to escape the oppressive conditions of the South, pursue land ownership, and build new lives in a relatively less discriminatory environment. Both groups contributed significantly to the development of frontier communities, fostering a sense of agency and empowerment.

Most of the manumitted blacks from the U.S. settled in Liberia. Established in the early 19th century, Liberia was founded by the American Colonization Society as a colony for freed African Americans. The settlement aimed to provide them with a place to live free from the systemic racism and oppression present in the United States.
Paul Cuffe, a prominent African American businessman and abolitionist in the early 19th century, suggested that free African Americans return to Africa as part of a broader vision for their empowerment and self-determination. He believed that establishing a colony in Africa, specifically in Liberia, could provide a solution to the systemic racism and oppression faced in the United States. Cuffe saw this as an opportunity for African Americans to reclaim their heritage and create a society where they could thrive free from discrimination. His proposal reflected both a desire for a better future for African Americans and a recognition of the challenges they faced in America.
It kept them away from the Americans who didn't like African Americans.
whites were no longer allowed to have slaves, therefore African-Americans were free. African-Americans were allowed to work for pay, even though at that time the pay rate for African Americans was not very high, they were allowed to work and provide for their families
