Revere died May 10, 1818 at his home on Charter Street in Boston, Massachusetts, and was buried in the Granary Burying Ground on Tremont Street in Boston. This cemetery was begun in 1660, and there are three men who signed the Declaration of Independence buried there (Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Robert Treat Paine), as well as the five victims of the Boston Massacre. Another Revolutionary notable interred there is James Otis. Otis's sister, Mercy Otis Warren, was maried to Dr. James Warren who was killed at Bunker Hill. Members of Bejamin Franklin's family are in there, though Franklin himself is buried in Philadelphia, but he was from Boston. Phyllis Wheatley, the slave who was a poet, and the first African-American woman to publish a book, is in there too.
