Ireland has never had an imperialist design on any country since the foundation of the state in 1922. It has participated in overseas conflicts only as part of UN and EUFOR peacekeeping missions, in Congo, Kosovo, Liberia, Chad, Lebanon and other lands. Prior to the country's rule by Britain, there was no central power in the country that could have been considered to act as "Ireland" per se. Ireland's major source of conflicts before this time were internecine, or focused upon tribal or conglomertated anti-invasive efforts aimed at Vikings, Normans, English etc. Answer Irish did establish colonies in Scotland (Dalriada), Wales (Lleyn, Brecknock and Dyfed) and Cornwall.
