I would never like to fight in World War 1. It was a shabby and lousy war with a huge stalemate that should never have happened. I would not want to have been a victim of the chemical warfare or the bombing. They did not have good medical care yet either. Life expectancy was nearly zero.
I would not have minded fighting in the European war as much the Pacific War.
My father was in the B17 bombers over Europe. I am extremely glad he came back and made life free for us and the Europeans. If I had to choose I would be a flier rather than one of the troops.
But truthfully I'd rather be in the military now where the life expectancy is higher and the troops are better outfitted and trained. Today's warfare technology far exceed the too world wars. Admittedly, the technological inventions of WW2 and Vietnam War led to today's better warriors.
