It was invaded by much more than two peoples. It was invaded by the Vandals, Alans, Sueves, Burgundians, Alemanni and Franks. Britannia was invaded by the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians. All of these peoples, except for the Alans who were Iranian speakers, were Germanic peoples.

This started the process of the fall of this part of the empire. The eastern part of the Roman Empire was not affected by these invasions and continued to exist for nearly 1,000 years.
