The population in Europe decreased because of the lost lives of the wars. But also, many positive things came from the Crusades. Armies found new ways to build better ships and to make better maps, and many new tools were discovered. Trade between Europe and the Middle East increased. And glass and mirrors became popular items. Knowledge and education also increased, and the idea of a university was brought back. :)
