In Texas if you are 17 can you date someone who is over 18 without your parents pressing charges on them?

hope this helps.hnmmm interesting. Considering that I am 17 as well, and my boyfriend is 21, I had to learn about that too. Yes, by law your parents can press charges on him for statuatory rape (even if you two "didn't engage in intercourse") They have the right to tell you you can't see him as well. But there is one thing you should know. Im not encouraging this in any way, but the law states that when you are 16 years old and you run away, you are considered a runaway, and the authorities have the right to make you go back home if they find you. However, once you turn 17-you can run away and all they can do is tell you that your parents are looking for you *if* they find you. They cannot make you go back home. You are just reported as missing and by the time you turn 18, you will obviously be an adult. I know all of this because last year, my sister (17) at the time, ran away with her 19 year old boyfriend. The cops found her but couldn't do anything. Oh gosh, did that make my mom mad.
