In response to your question, I actually did some research before finding this WikiQuestion. I read on a recently updated website that this baby-crying hoax is exactly that, a hoax. The email has been going out all over the United States and then also traveled to Australia. The original email was sent out from Baton Rouge, LA in the USA. It was based off a man who killed numerous women. He never admitted to luring them out with a recording of a babies cry. Although it might be an internet hoax, you can never be too cautious.

If anything is ever at your door that is out of the ordinary, and you're home alone.. call the local police. As the saying goes, better safe than sorry and they'll understand. Just don't cry wolf often, or the police will take their time getting out to your place if a real emergency is happening.
