They are not naturally attracted to water, but are a fairly easy breed to train to love water.
this fight would be close, even doh the ridgeback head is not as big as the dog de bordeaux, i think it would still win, these ridgeback dogs are fighters and will not back down, and just like the akita, they will take the fight to another breed of dog, the american akita and the ridgeback is capable of beating all breeds of pittbull and bulldogs,
No, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is not considered a scent hound. It is a hunting breed known for its tracking and hunting skills, but it is not primarily used for trailing scents like traditional scent hounds. The Ridgeback uses its sight and speed to hunt rather than relying solely on its sense of smell.
Rhodesian: It was first bred in the country of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Ridgeback: It has a line of hair 1-2 inches wide on it's back of hair going the opposite direction.
There are several breeds of dogs that look like lions, some more so than others. You choose after clicking on this link.
The cost of a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy can vary significantly depending on the breeder, bloodline, and location, but generally, you can expect to pay anywhere from $800 to $2500. It is essential to research breeders carefully to ensure you are getting a healthy and well-bred puppy. Additional costs for things like veterinary care, training, and supplies should also be factored in.
My 10 yo female ridgeback x kelpie is 35kg. She has no health problems (not even arthritis). She has a few lumps / fatty deposits, but no cancer. She is a long dog like a ridgeback but her height is slightly taller than a kelpie. She has the ridgeback look and laziness inside with a gentle , but the energy of a kelpie when outside (especially in the water). She doesn't bark, bite, jump or dig and is very well behaved but can be unpredictable at times with other dogs (an age / tolerance thing I think as this is fairly new behaviour). She doesn't like yapping dogs that jump at her.
My rhodesian ridgeback puppy is great with the family and always wants to be close to us. He is initially shy around strangers, but warms up to them quickly. I have been around some very wary and aloof ridgebacks but their owners all say that at home they are just so sweet. So, in general they are a dog that loves those he knows are his pack, and is not really friendly like a labrador retreiver around strangers, but will not hurt anyone unless they or their family are threatened.
No, that is not a recognised breed, but there is a Cambodian Razorback Dog, but it is very rare. Basically, the Dog has a backwards growing ridge of hair along its back like the Rhodesian Ridgeback. This is not seen in Pit Bulls.
In a hypothetical matchup between an Akita and a Rhodesian Ridgeback, the outcome could depend on various factors like size, training, and temperament. Both breeds are strong and athletic, with the Akita typically being larger and more powerful, while the Ridgeback is known for its speed and agility. Ultimately, individual behavior and circumstances would play a significant role in determining the winner. It's important to note that promoting dog fights is unethical and harmful to animals.
the ridge of hair along its back, running in the opposite direction to the rest of its coat. It consists of a fan-like area formed by two whorls of hair (called "crowns") and tapers from immediately behind the shoulders down to the level of the hips. The ridge is usually about 2 inches (5 cm) in width at its widest point.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks can be good with children if they are raised and socialized properly. They are protective of their families and can be gentle and loving with children. However, due to their size and strength, it's important to always supervise interactions between Ridgebacks and young children to ensure safety for both.
He's a mix... looks like part Stafordshire Bull Terrier and part something bigger (maybe a labrador retriever or rhodesian ridgeback, from his shape.) He was from a rescue (dog pound) and he is called Buck. See http://www.22dog.com/breeds/Staffordshire-Bull-Terrier.html to see what the purebred looks like.
