Only one species of camel lives within the African grasslands. The Dromedary, or single-humped, camel.

They live in North Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. They've also been introduced to the deserts of Australia.

The other species of camel, the Bactrian, or double-humped camel, lives in Eastern Asia.

Wild Bactrian camels are listed as critically endangered.
