Germany was slowly taking over all of Europe, we would have been next. Also we had a pact with Poland so when Germany took them over we had to step in.

USA stayed neutral until the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese in late 1941, more than two years after Britain etc had started fighting Nazi Germany.

I was talking about Britain, Jassy033, not every user of answers.com is American.

The question asked reasons us got involved. I presume the questioner forgot to capitalise and meant to ask about the USA. I understand that people from all round the world use Wikianswers, but I feel that many are from the USA.

Sorry, though 'us' meant 'us British people' :)

Yes, that's the trouble with the modern habit of not capitalising! In Wikianswers I find that 'us' usually refers to the USA rather than the plural of 'me'. Sad, but, hey, that's modern life.
