On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Canadian forces primarily landed at Juno Beach, one of the five designated beaches for the Allied invasion of Normandy. Juno Beach was located between Gold Beach to the west and Sword Beach to the east. The Canadians faced fierce resistance but managed to secure their objectives, making significant advances inland. This operation was crucial in establishing a foothold in Europe during World War II.
The Canadians were the first allied forces to take a beach on dday and had moved further inland then any other force and Juno Beach was one of the most heavily defended beaches as well.

The Canadian Divisions landed on Juno Beach, held the beach by 0930 and started landing armour. By nightfall 21,500 Canadians and most of their armour was ashore and in command of a 7 mile semicircle of France.
The U.S. attacked Omaha and Utah beach. The British forces attacked Gold and Sword beach. The Canadians attacked Juno beach with the assistance of the British.
