Broadly speaking, the Atlantic and the Pacific. In the Pacific the enemy was Japan, in the Atlantic, Germany and Italy. But each of these vast areas was divided into several theaters of operations.
The War against Japan involved the Central Pacific Theater of Operations, the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations, and the China-Burma-India Theater.
In the Atlantic the war against Germany and Italy involved North Africa, the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, the Middle East, and the European Theater of Operations.
The above considers only American and British forces. There was fighting in other places where the Americans and British did not participate, most notably the "Eastern Front" where Germany was battling the Soviet Union.
Eastern Front, Italy and from D-Day on, Normandy, France, Belgium, etc.
World war 2 was fought on 4 continents mainly, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania (Australia is part of Oceania). More battles were fought in Europe than anywhere else, Primarily between Germany and Russia, However a great number of important battles occurred in Asia or Oceania. In a generalization the war was broken into two theaters of war, the Pacific Theater, mostly Oceania and partly Asia, and the European Theater, mostly Europe, but partly Africa and Asia. Some minor battles or events occurred as well in the Americas and Australia.
OK so there were two theaters one was the eurpoean theater and the other was the pacific theater. That is were most of the fighthing happened. There was also land based conflict in Northern Africa. The sea based conflicts were conducted throughout the world.
The conflict areas were called theaters of operation. The European Theater included the Atlantic Ocean as well as Europe and Africa. The Pacific Theater was the drive against the Japanese.
There were two major theaters in the Second Great War: the European theater, and the Pacific Theater. V-E Day was the day that the Germans surrendered to the Allied Forces and major action in the European theater ceased. The Nazis were defeated.
Two theaters of WW2 were the European theater and the Pacific theater.
The European and Pacific theaters.
Pacific, European and Asian.
Eastern Front, Italy and from D-Day on, Normandy, France, Belgium, etc.
I have attached a link with all the campaign details for the two theaters of World War 2 in 1945.
The Second world war was faught in two "theaters" also known as regions there was the Pacific Theatre which was faught mostly between Japan and America and consisted of the Philippines and the Japanese islands. There was also the westeren theatre which was faught in Europe and the very tip of North Africa.
There was many major battles in the Pacific and European Theaters. The two major battles for both was the invasion of Europe was Operation Overlord (D-Day as many call it) and the Battle of Midway. Where the Americans turned the tide in both theaters in these battles.
The word "theater" comes from ancient Greek, and can be used two ways. It originally meant a place for viewing, as in a hall where plays were performed; later, it meant a place to see movies. But during World War II, it carried another meaning. We heard about the "theater of operation" or the "Pacific theater"-- this referred to a location or region where fighting was occurring, it referenced the strategic plans for that region. So, yes there were both movie theaters and military theaters in that era. The movie theaters often showed patriotic films, and tried to keep people's spirits up. The military theaters were supervised by generals who planned the strategy specific to that region.
It fought in two theaters of war: in the Pacific, against Japan, and in north Africa and continental Europe (mostly Italy, France and Germany) against Nazi Germany. North Africa was its first theater of war.
The attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor Hawaii and Adolf Hitler's declaration of war on the United States were the impetus that forced the US to fight both the Pacific and European Theaters of war.
Two. World War I and World War II.
