The first battle was fought under Colonel John Geary of the 28th Pennsylvania Volunteers around Harper's Ferry. In Feb of 1862 the first Confederate soldier fell to the "rain of death." In another battle Capt. Bartlett used the coffee mill gun at 800 yards into Confederate line forcing the survivors to flee.
