Lebensraum means living space towards the east where polish Slavs and Russian predominate and where Hitler spelled out in his writings that Germany should take over to allow German farmers to resettle and help feed a growing German population. There were large ethnic German populations in the east especially around the Volga region of the Soviet Union that Hitler hoped to link up to.

Basically, it was Hitler's excuse to invade and conquer other countries. He claimed that the German people needed more living area for agricultural, industrial, and municipality expansion. There's a good deal of reference to it in the book "How Hitler Could Have Won World War II."

Did Hitler believe Germany needed lebensraum?

Lebensraum means "living space" in German. Yes, Hitler did believe Germany needed lebensraum, in fact, lebensraum was the idea behind his genocidal rampage against all non-Aryans. Hitler believed that to make more space for his perfect empire, he needed to eliminate all negative factors. Those included Jews, Gypsies, and anyone else really who wasn't considered "Aryan". Additional comment: Hitler outlined this and his war aims in his second book that was not published. The manuscipt was discovered after the war. Hitler desired a 'living space' in Eastern Europe for Germans to become self-sufficient in agriculture. Hitler had long-held belief that Germany had lost WW One partially because of insufficient agricultural capacity. The 'living space' would require that the current owners of the property be killed or deported.

How did Hitler plan to achieve Lebensraum?

Lebensraum, meaning 'living space' was part of the Nazis' expansionist ideology and was one of Hitler's major political ideals. Basically Hitler wanted to acquire extra space so that the German population could grow. This involved getting land and raw materials. Therefore Hitler's plan in achieving lebensraum for the German people involved invading countries to the East of Germany and to then repopulate those areas with German people. Polish, Russian and other Slavic populations, who Hitler viewed as inferior, were then to be exterminated through starvation and replaced by the German upper class. The practical implementation of the lebensraum concept started in 1939 with Germany's occupation of Poland. This also led to the launching of Operation Barbarossa in June, 1941. Some also see Hitler's idea of lebensraum as part of a larger ideal of his for world domination.

Why did World War 2 happin?

because Hitler wanted to take over the worldAnswer 2As part of Hitler's idea of a master race and a thousand year old Reich. He believed that he and his people needed more "lebensraum" or "living space". Mainly this "space" or land was to be taken to the cost of the slavic people to the east, who he saw as an inferior race(Russians, poles, slovakians, chezch, etc.etc). He also wanted to retake land that had been lost as of ww1.
