The first ally Germany gained was Italy, which was also ruled by an expansionist and militaristic fascist government. Germany allied with Japan later in the war. Eastern European nations such as Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria joined with Germany but were more considered puppets of Germany rather than full allies. When Germany invaded Yugoslavia, it created the Independent State of Croatia in the north, which was also a German puppet state. Finland joined Germany in its attack on the Soviet Union as revenge for the Soviet invasion of southern Finland known as the Winter War, which was fought in the winter of 1939/1940 and resulted in the region of Karelia being ceded to Germany. If it counts, Thailand was also an ally of Japan during the war.

The allies of Hitler in WW2 were the counties of Italy, Japan, and at first Russia. Italy was a communist country dictated by Benito Mousolini. "Mousolini" may be spelt wrong. Russia was known as the Soviet Union, and was also a communist country. However Hitler and the Nazi party betrayed the Russians shortly after they invaded Polland. The Allies opposing force was known as the Axis powers witch include the counties above; Germany, Japan, Russia, Italy. In that order as far as having influence on the war overall.

The British commonwealth, plus the Free French under de Gaulle, in contrast to the French government in Vichy that collaborated with Hitler. After Germany invaded the Soviet Union, then the Russians swapped sides. Lots of smaller countries belonged to the allied side, but were occupied by the Axis, and couldn't fight for a long time.

United States had declared neutrality in 1939 and didn't join WWII until Germany declared war on the USA as a response on the US and British war declaration on Japan in December 1941. Before that, the Asian and European wars were separate developments.

Also Brazil declare war sent troops to Europe agaisnt the Axis.

From 1943 Italy changed government and joined the allies.

From 1944 other countries like Finland and formerly occupied states e.g. in theb Balkans fought the German troops.

"The big 3" that discussed peace conditions etc, were the leaders of Britain, USSR and USA, and the 4 post-war occupation armies included France.
