USSR/Red China. Contrary to popular opinion, by far, the bulk of the AK47s, grenades, trucks, PT76/T54 tanks, MiG17 jets (J5 series) were CHICOM (Communist Chinese). The Soviets quit sending North Vietnam MiG17s and concentrated solely on MiG21s; the Red Chinese supplied the only MiG19s (J6 versions) to the North Viet AF.
So it looked like this: Only USSR supplied the MiG21 & only Red China supplied the MiG19 to North Vietnam. But both nations supplied Hanoi with the MiG17. Soviets supplied North w/ground defense weapons such as SAMs/radar, etc.
The Soviets supplied the North with MiG-17, MiG-21 jet fighters, T54 medium gun tanks, PT76 Amphibious tanks, Radar and Surface to Air Missiles (SAMs). Communist China (CHICOM) supplied the North with MiG-19 (J6 versions) jet fighters, trucks, AK-47s, SKS carbines, K54 pistols, RPD machine guns, mortars, 122mm rockets, etc.
The US, Australia, New Zealand, SOUTH Korea, South Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines VS North Vietnam and their Southern Vietnamese Communist allies the Viet Cong. War equipment for the communists was SUPPLIED by the Soviet Union/Red China.
China and Russia. Both were communist at the time. However, they both turned on NV later when Nixon implemented a scheme to befriend both nations so that they applied peace on the NV so that a peace agreement could be made. they both did and NV finally allowed Thieu to remain in power in SV whilst the US withdrawed.
:)
Which Vietnam? North or South?
The United States, Canada, Australia, Korea and the Philippines. (All were members of the South East Asia Treaty Organization - SEATO.)
Russia supplied Mig fighter jets, military advisors and weapon. there are also reports of the communist Chinese sending troops into the fighting to help.
USSR/Red China were the primary suppliers of equipment.
China and Russia
Relationships with other countries is now a little less complicated in that world trade, tourism, and other forms of international relationships NO LONGER involve two countries, which would entail two forms of laws & customs. There is no longer a North and South Vietnam. Only a one Vietnam to communicate with, albeit a communist one.
The first American military casualties in Vietnam happened in 1959, and troop built-up continued to a peak in late 1968, then declined until full withdrawal of all U.S. military in April, 1973. The North Vietnamese forces captured the South Vietnamese capital two years later.
The two core areas of the country of Vietnam are; North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The capital of North Vietnam was Hanoi. The capital of South Vietnam was Saigon
In 1956, it divided Vietnam at the 17th parallel into North and South Vietnam. They remained that way until the South Vietnam government surrendered to North Vietnam forces in April, 1975.
The Soviet Union and China were two significant allies of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The war lasted from 1955 to 1975.
North Vietnam won them.
North and South Vietnam
The countries to west of Vietnam are Laos and to the southwest Cambodia. China borders at the north.
North Korea & North Vietnam.
Laos and Cambodia were both drawn into the Vietnam War because of atrocities the people of these two countries suffered under the hands of North Vietnam. South Vietnam and other countries were trying to keep the North Vietnamese army from spreading Communism in these countries.
The US and North Vietnam. US jets bombed the north; the north shot them down. (Back and forth; back and forth).
Pakistan was created in about 1947, North & South Vietnam were established in about 1954. Remember, VIETNAM was two countries not one!
No. First of all, Asia is not a country. Asia is a continent. It has many countries. Some of those countries are communist, but many of them are not.
Vietnam was split into two countries during the vietnam war, the north was ruled by Ho Chi Minh and the South by Ngo Diem.
Only one nation won the Viet War; North Vietnam. Interesting question, which two nations did you have in mind?
Primary combatants were US & North Vietnam; especially the air war over the North.
Laos & Cambodia
