During most of the War, it was Franklin D. Roosevelt. He died in April of 1945, succeeded by Vice-President Harry S Truman, who then presided over the remaing few months of the war - the fighting in Europe ended in May of 1945, and the Japanese surrendered in August of 1945.

∙ 13y agoAlthough I am not 100% certain, I am pretty sure that (at least during the first part) the president of the US was Franklin D. Roosevelt. If this is incorrect, I apologize. Franklin Delano Roosevelt - 100% correct Harry Truman was the next President after FDR and WW2 was still on-going.

∙ 14y agoThere were 2 presidents during WWII. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and then Harry Truman. Mr. Roosevelt did not want to go to war, but he did want to support our British friends, who were already at war. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, he felt he didn't have a choice. When Roosevelt died, Mr. Truman took over and did everything he could to end the war. Truman also ordered the use of the first atomic bomb, which some credit as a factor in ending the war.
