Under his leadership, the British government played a crucial role in the operation by coordinating the airlift of supplies to West Berlin after the Soviet Union blockaded the city in June 1948. Attlee supported the decision to sustain the city's residents through the airlift, demonstrating a commitment to countering Soviet aggression and maintaining Western influence in Europe.
