The Cold War was referred to as a time of a bipolar world because it was characterized by the dominance of two superpowers: the United States and the Soviet Union. These nations held opposing ideologies—capitalism and democracy versus communism—and engaged in a global struggle for influence, leading to the division of the world into two distinct spheres of power.
