I am 16 I live inOhio I am pregnant my mom has tried to withdraw me form the high school, they say because of the no child left behind act you are not allowed to drop out at any age until you are 18. I find this law to be a in convince to both me and my mother. How am I to go to school while yet taking care of a child.
You are not suppose to, but there are loop wholes in the system. You can drop out and get your GED. This would probably take about 3 months and then they can't touch you. I have seen kids do this. I have also seen a kid have only 1 credit in the 10th grade get her GED at the start of her junior year when she was 16 and at the end of her junior year she started college. Why would someone not go to high school and then go to college. The answer to this is because college gives you the left over grant money for your expenses. So then you can go out and buy a car to go along with your drivers license. Would you want some one being a doctor that didn't go to high school.
I'm not writing this because I don't think education is important. I'm writing this because kids out smart adults and politicians all the time. They know how to play the system.
If a kid goes to court because they do not go to school the magistrate or judge will ask the parent, why they are not going to school? the real problem we have here is that at some age the kid has to start taking some of the blame and responsibility. There are a lot of bad parents in the world, but there are a lot of parents that try to get there kids to take responsibility.
In West Virginia a child must be at least 16 years of age to drop out of school. There is a law that will take away their drivers license if they choose to drop out though.
i know you can do it in Ohio
You will lose your license if you are under the age of 18 years old and quit school according to new Alabama state laws. If a student quits school and obtains their G.E.D. certification they can be released from this law.
Check with your school, they will give you a form you must complete in order to 'drop-out'.
You need to be 16 to drop out of High School in New York.
yes you will be an legal adult but is not recommended to drop out of school
If you are a high school drop out and you do not have your GED, you cannot get your drivers license until you are eighteen. If you already have your license when you drop out, it will be revoked.
I assume you are talking about a drivers license? Dropout, that doesn't effect your driving abilities.
Yes, you can get it once you turn 18.
after your 18 years old0
As far as I know, you can. You just have to be able to pass your test.
Yes, the state of Idaho Bureau of Motor Vehicles requires a high school diploma or a driver's license will either not be issued, or revoked. Proof of enrollment in school is one of the requirements for first time drivers who are attempting to get a license in Idaho as well.
Well, you have to be enrolled in school to even take the test. If you drop out before you get it, you have to be eighteen to take the test. If you already have it, you may keep it. 🌸
