from experience, I know that the only way you can legally leve dfcs at 17 is to be emancipated in a court setting. Otherwise, if you leave, you will be posted as a missing person and dfcs legally still has custody until you are 18...then you can sign yourself out. If you are under 17, you will be reported as a runaway, and can be sent to Juvi for it.
Currently the state of Georgia has no emancipation laws. The only thing a minor can do in severe situations involving abuse or neglect is to go to DFCS
This will depend upon the type of probation that you are on. Many times, when on probation, you can leave the house but must check in with the officer on the required times.
He should, but I believe 17 is a consensual age in Georgia.
the legal age to go to jail in Georgia is 17!! ridiculos rite?? i found out the hard way.
No, the state's age of legal majority is 18. no you can move out at 17 though
your parents can kick you out at age 18, but you are able in Georgia to leave your home at age 17, with out getting charged of anything or be considered a runaway. Its because of the loop hole in Georgia laws and Georgia only
you just leave! you are able to move out at age 17
Because you can go to jail in Georgia at age 17, you can leave home at 17, and the police cannot force you to return, but you cannot be kicked out until age 18.
You are legally an adult when you reach the age of majority. In Georgia, that is 18. You can't sign Contracts or Leases until age 18. Your parents cannot kick you out until age 18; however, due to the fact that you can actually go to jail at age 17 in Georgia, you can leave home at 17 and cannot be forced to return.

No, you cannot legally sign any Contracts or Leases until the age of majority, which is 18. Strangely, you can leave home at 17 (which is the age when you can go to adult jail in Georgia), although parents cannot kick you out until age 18. So you can legally leave at 17, but you cannot put an apartment in your name until 18.
In Georgia, the legal age to leave home without parental consent is 18. If a 17-year-old wishes to leave home before turning 18, they would need permission from their parents or legal guardians to do so.
You can leave home on your own at age 17 in Georgia, but you cannot be kicked out until age 18. Be aware that you won't be able to rent an apartment (you cannot sign any lease or contract until the age of majority, which is 18 in Georgia).
Yes, you can. Georgia is a strange state. You cannot be kicked out until the age of majority (18), but a child can leave at age 17, and the police will not force the child back home or treat him/her as a runaway.
Not at 17 years of age. They are still considered a minor and the responsibility of the parents.
Yes! Georgia is unique from many states in that the parents cannot kick out the child until age 18, but the child may leave at 17. This is the result of a loophole of sorts (because Georgia decided that you can go to prison at age 17).No, you have to turn 18 or over before moving out of Georgia.
Out of all the requests for emancipation, very few are granted. You have to prove severe abuse. If you are a female, getting pregnant will emancipate you. So will getting married (with parental consent). If you are just wanting to leave home, in Georgia you can leave at 17, and you cannot be forced to return. This is because you can now go to prison in Georgia at age 17. But you cannot be kicked out by your parents until age 18. Be aware that you can't legally sign a Lease or other Contract until age 18.
