The allies controlled everything during the invasion; air, sea, and land. Essentially the above is true, but perhaps not quite as true as it might at first seem. The US in preparation had lost nearly a thousand men during Exercise Tiger, off Slapton Sands, Devon, prior to Normandy, due to German E boat incursion. While the skies over the beaches were relatively free from the Luftwaffe, the land at 'Bloody Omaha' was by no means, at one time, in Allied control. The story of the Kreigsmarine in WW2, above the waves at least, is of great ships which achieved little in conflict with the Royal Navy and in much the same way as the tanks on the battlefield they were used briefly & they did not see old age.

What is the law in KY concerning the notification of parents about teen pregnancy if you a mental health counselor?

You can only tell if the minor agrees to it. Minors have the right to birth control, pregnancy- and STI testing and prenatal care without having the parents know.

Can a parent force an adolescent to go on birth control even if they are not sexually active?

No, in the US a minor has certain "fundamental liberties" one of which relates to the voluntary or involuntary use of contraception. That being the case, a physician cannot/will not, prescribe birth control for a minor if she is unwilling. That being the case, a court order is required before a parent can "force" a minor child to use birth control.

Why would an abuser give you the silent treatment at times when things are going well in life and you feel happy yet you feel less for him?

It's a control game to see if you will beg him to talk to you and punish you for having the guts to stand up to them. The above poster is correct, but there are some abusive people that for a change are stunned when someone does stand up to them (especially their mate.) It's a sign to them they are losing control. If you think you've won, don't start blowing up balloons, because abusers will get even and be right back in your face and will make you pay dearly for this so-called weak moment the abuser feels they've had. They love control and don't like ANYONE rocking their boat.

Can you have some info on d-day?

Yes: It is the largest amphibious military operation in the history of warfare. June 6 1944, Operation Overlord was the start of the liberation of Western Europe from the Nazis. There were 5 invasion Beaches: Gold Juno & Sword were mainly British & Canadian & Omaha & Utah were US. These were in Normandy between the Seine Estuary & the Cotentin Peninsula. Omaha had many casualties, but was successful as were all the other landings. There was massive Naval & Air support of the landings. There were 2 portable harbours called Mulberries & Pluto (Pipeline under the Ocean) delivered fuel from UK. Having established the bridgehead the followup Operation Cobra, led by Patton, was instrumental in the liberation of France. By September 1944 the Allies were in Holland.

How did the allies trick Hitler into sending his top tank division to calais prior to d- day?

The Allies tricked Hitler by having a French merchant ship drop a dead body with plans of a fake invasion to take place far west of Normandy and on high tide the body was dropped by the Normandy coast and floated to shore and was found by the Germans and delivered to Hitler and he moved a large group of his men to that point and left the rest at Normandy witch was still a lot of Germans and payed little attention to Normandy. Hitler was taken by surprise and could not move his troops to Normandy and waited still thinking that there was an immanent invasion witch would never come. The Allies lost many men and the number would have been worse if the deception trick did not work. We should always be thankful that there were and still are people like that so willing to fight for what they believe in and to fight for other countries and for the United States of America these men were and will always be Heros.

The early American strategy to win the war involved a three-pronged invasion of what area?

North Africa, on November 8, 1942. There were three widely separated amphibious landings, in "Operation Torch", two in Morocco and one in Algeria. These were French colonies at the time, and France was under control of the Vichy regime after having been overrun by the Nazis. The Vichy regime collaborated with the Nazis and under Vichy rule the French were German "allies". French troops ashore did resist the American landings, and lives were lost on both sides. But the French did not have their hearts in fighting the Americans and after about four days quit and came over to the American side.

What was Operation cobra?

Cobra was the Breakout after D Day. Once the Allies were ashore in strength, having pinned the Panzer forces & attacked them Patton led the attack using fast moving armoured columns to relieve much of France. This in turn allowed the British & Canadians to cross the Seine & move towards Belgium & Holland in 1944. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operation Cobra was the plan for the breakout of Normandy following the D-Day landings. The Operation was planned and led by Omar Bradley rather than George Patton. Bradley used the fact that German resistance was focussing on Caen, where the British and Canadians had been trying to capture, to punch out of their lines. He wanted to escape the countryside of Normandy (bocage) that had been slowing down the Allied advance. The Operation resulted in the securing of Normandy for the Allies and allowed American forces to turn into Brittany and advance to the Seine. Cobra was tied in with offensives by British and Canadian forces to pin down German troops that were vital in the success of the Operation. Ultimately Canadian advances led to the creation of what became the Falaise gap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falaise_pocket) and the destruction of a large part of the German forces west of the Seine.
