You can not have a HDMI Cable and a A/V cable connected at the same time on a PS3. Only one spot exists to plug it in at the back of the PS3. If you do not use the A/V cable the came with the PS3 there are optional S video Cables and also Optional Component Cables that can be used for HDTVs besides using a HDMI cable
No you only need one that works. I prefer a name brand, but that is not a requirement. The main thing you need is one long enough to reach from the back of the PS3 to the back of an HDTV.

Yes, you can in some cases. If your laptop has an HDMI output, a single HDMI lead is all that you will need. Most laptops with an HDMI output also include sound on the connectors but there are some that don't. If your laptop has a DVI connector, a DVI to HDMI lead will work but note that there is never any sound on a DVI connector. If you need to run sound separately, use an analog audio lead. Most televisions have a separate audio input linked to at least one HDMI input that will provide for a separate audio feed.
For sure. Try cleaning the contacts on the end with a clean dry toothbrush. Or borrow someone's that you know works ok.
if you are using an HDTV and a HDMI cable, make sure only the power cord and the HDMI cable are plugged in. Then hold down the power button until you hear a beep noise. Then your ps3 will tell you what to do from there
On HDMI TVs, on the rear of the set, you will see a squarish plug in near the AV jacks. The HDMI cord runs from the PS3 straight to the TV without AV jacks. You must go into settings on the system and change the AV usage to HD cable. The cable must have a gold colored tip. The store managers say this is actual gold, creating better imaging for the television. They cost around 40.00 for a decent one, but I have personal experience with the cords, they are not worth it. I'd say it truly effects visual gameplay on 50% of games. Fight Night, Madden 11, but not race games like Need For Speed: Shift.
A 5m HDMI cord can be used for connecting two devices with HDMI ports separated by a proximity of 5 meters or less. A 5m HDMI cord can be bought from Amazon.
Either an RF cord or and AV cord(the red, yellow, and white cord).
HDMI is the only cable you need, because it carries a high-definition video and multi-channel audio signal all in one cable.
it is a cord that lets you see what ever it is plugged into in high definition
Yes. The HDMI cord or HDMI plug at the PS3 end in the A/v cable allows the PS3 to have Audio and Video. How can you say a PS3 is working without Audio and Video
The HDMI port is in/out, try a tv tuner.
Not you can play on your normal cord if you want
No U Do Not , HDMI Only Makes Your Graphics Better.!! :)

yes
When you use a VGA cable coming out of the monitor, the monitor is giving out an analog signal through the VGA connection. For the monitor to give out a digital signal, you need a DVI or HDMI cable. The VGA to HDMI cord just converts the analog signal into a digital signal so it's not completely useless, however the quality will not be as good as an HDMI to HDMI or DVI to DVI or HDMI to DVI
Nothing, as HDMI is an input port on an telly, not an output port.
