What made the Titanic people decide to put fewer lifeboats?

I believe thast it was because the creator of the Titanic felt that it would take away from the beauty of the ship. And being coined "unsinkable". On its maiden voage the passangers may have been a bit too many but they where on a course. Full steam ahead !!! (I mean i wasnt there but that's what I think).--The Titanic had as many lifeboats as was required by law during the period she was built. At the time the ship was considered to be capable of staying afloat long enough to be its own life boat.
