AnswerHi I did a search for International Correspondence School and there are many of them. There is this one, which is in Canada: http://www.icslearn.ca/ and there is one in Scotland: http://www.arts.hobsons.com/microsite/512/contactDetails/international_correspondence_school so whether they are all related or not I don't know.

As far as accreditation is concerned, it's a big deal, especially if you graduated as a homeschooler from there and are looking to get into college. Now, I'm sure every bogus online school and scamsite can get itself accredited with somebody. The question is this: are the people who do the accrediting recognized by the Department of Education for the country concerned? I suspect the only way you can find out for sure is to actually contact the Department of Education and ask them if this (from ics Canada's website)

ICS CANADA IS ACCREDITED. Accredited by the Canadian Education and Training Accreditation Commission (CETAC). ICS Canada is also a member of the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC)

actually MEANS anything to the Canadian Department of Education. Even more important if you went to school in Canada and want to go on to an American university, does it mean anything to the AMERICAN Department of Education.

If I remember corectly, their wen site does have a list of all the schools and accreditation institutions that it recognizes. Phil

In 1890, a newspaperman named Thomas J. Foster was one of the first to recognize that working adults with ambition needed a convenient way to learn advanced skills. He developed the distance-learning method as a way of helping anthracite coal miners become mine superintendents and foremen.

This was the solution hard-working people around the country had been searching for! Miners would work a twelve-hour shift, then return home to study by candlelight, so they could gain the engineering knowledge they needed to earn promotions.

By 1894, the school was enrolling students in Mexico, British America, and Australia. The school became a stunning success virtually overnight, enrolling more than a quarter of a million students in its first decade. More than 16,000 Canadians are currently studying with ICS Canada.

As the world's leader in at-home education, ICS has maintained a tradition of excellence for more than 100 years. We're proud of our history and excited about our future. We look forward to helping you become a successful part of our next century of learning and accomplishment.

It says it's "The Worlds Leader in At-Home Education" so personally i'd think any course you take..... you'll be safe. :)
